At 30 I had just finally finished grad school and started my first professional job. Whether one has earnings in one’s 20s makes a huge difference. They never talk to grad students about the opportunity cost.

500K$ by age 30 isnt very realistic for most people. How about 100K$ at age 40 to retire at 65 with 1.6M$? (assuming 10% yearly returns and retiring in a lower cost of living country or state).
