SkepSkep
Episodes, not shows
The whole world

ranks whole shows.

Spotify, Apple, the big charts — all of them rank entire podcasts by how popular the show already is.

Skep

rates the episodes.

We score each episode by the buzz it actually creates — so the best one can come from a podcast you've never heard of.

The difference

Same podcasts. A completely different question.

How Skep scores one episode

No follower counts, no guesswork. Just what real listeners did once they'd heard it.

    1

    Collect the buzz

The comments, the reactions, the lines people can't stop repeating.

Live today: YouTube. Rolling out: Reddit, then more.

    2

    Read it with AI

AI weighs the genuine reaction behind the words — not the marketing volume.

    3

    Score it twice

A Platform score (views, charts, algorithms) and a Community score (what real listeners say).

    4

    One Buzzmeter verdict

The two scores combine into a single honest number — and a tier.

    Buzzmeter = Platform × 0.6 + Community × 0.4

For example:Platform 86×0.6+Community 76×0.4=82%

Two scores, like Rotten Tomatoes' Critics + Audience — and Skep is built so it never has to lean on any single platform.

The Buzzmeter

One number. Three verdicts.

Where an episode lands on the Buzzmeter tells you, at a glance, whether it's worth your time.

Hidden Honey

This is why ranking episodes matters.

Because Skep scores episodes — not shows — a brilliant conversation on a podcast with 10–30k listeners can rank right alongside the household names. Those are the ones we save for your home page.

Fair questions

Things people actually ask us

+ What exactly is the Buzzmeter?

Skep's 0–100 rating for a single episode. Two scores go in: a Platform score (views, chart positions, algorithm signals) weighted 60%, and a Community score (what real listeners say about it) weighted 40%. 90+ is HIVE, 70–89 is BUZZING.

+ Where does the data come from?

Public signals only. Today that's YouTube — views, likes, and what the comments actually say — plus each show's own public RSS feed, with more sources being added. We never see anyone's private listening history.

+ How is this different from Spotify or Apple charts?

Those charts rank whole shows, mostly by how big the show already is. Skep rates individual episodes by the reaction they actually got — so a brilliant episode from a tiny podcast can outrank a mediocre one from a household name.

+ Can a podcaster pay for a better score?

No. There's no paid placement, no boosts, no way to buy a verdict. Every episode is scored from public reaction, the same way for every show — manufactured hype is exactly what the Buzzmeter exists to filter out.

+ How often do scores update?

Nightly. New episodes are ingested, buzz is re-collected, and every score is recomputed — so the rankings reflect what happened in the last day, not last month.

+ Why isn't my favorite podcast on Skep?

The catalog grows constantly, and requests move shows up the queue — tell us what's missing on the contact page. Adding a show is quick.

+ Do I need an account?

No. Skep personalizes from your first tap, anonymously. Signing in is optional and only exists to carry your hive across devices.

+ How much does Skep cost?

Nothing. Skep is free while we grow — no trial timer, no locked rankings. The details are on the pricing page.
