The Smoker.
What's actually buzzing — minus the hype.
We strip bot views, paid placements, and coordinated PR pushes from the Buzzmeter — so you only see episodes that are buzzing on their own. We call the tool The Smoker, after the beekeeper's tool that calms a hive so you can read its true state.
Episodes that pass the Smoker
Their score holds up after we strip the hype. These are the real ones — the episodes the colony chose, not the algorithm.
How the Smoker works
The raw Buzzmeter weights platform signals (YouTube views, Spotify charts, algorithmic momentum) at 60% and community signals (Reddit threads, TikTok clips, cross-platform mentions) at 40%. Platform signals are easier to game — buy views, run promos, push a chart campaign — so a high raw score can hide a hollow center.
The Smoker inverts that weighting: 80% community, 20% platform. If an episode's score holds up under that lens, the buzz is real. If it drops sharply, the algorithm did most of the talking.
