As long as you are in a conflict with Iran, you could hike a 1000bps and get nowhere. The problem is not liquidity, but liquid. The Ukraine mess is just sugar on top. And that's besides all the other fantastical problems the US is facing.

The enormous increase in available refined petroleum products (and radical price decrease) happened BEFORE Standard Oil was broken up. As for the Fed, it shouldn’t exist in the first place.
